In this interview he provides hard evidence that the partnership is delivering for the local population, both in terms of significant reductions in delayed transfers of care, and in the transfer of funds from acute to community services.
Future improvements will come through delivery of simpler access to services and seven ‘place teams’ where health and care professionals operate ‘as one unit’.
There are challenges ahead, not least in supporting the workforce so that different professionals better understand each others’ roles and are enabled to adapt these to meet population needs.
Since April 2019, the Partnership has worked through a Section 75 arrangement, but this is very much an expression of an already transformed working relationship created through four years of trust and confidence building ‘from the bottom up’ ahead of any contractual agreement.
