May Rezai, a PHD student at Aston University Medical School describes development of MirZyme Therapeutics, a spin out company working on diagnostics and therapies for pre-eclampsia.
Pre-eclampsia (aka ‘the silent killer’) is a condition that affects some pregnant women, usually during the second half of pregnancy. The condition can lead to serious complications for both mother and baby.
MirZyme Therapeutics has been spun out from the Aston Medical School and is based on research work originally carried out by its Dean, Professor Asif Ahmed. The diagnostic is set to be launched in China in 2021, with therapies following three to four years after that.
