Lucy Hughes named global winner of £30,000 James Dyson award for plastic substitute from fish waste

Lucy appeared on CLCdotTV earlier this year in the Circular Economy Show on bio-mimicry, a design process that creates solutions that mimic the natural world.

Such solutions are often more elegant and less wasteful of energy and resource than human solutions.

In this programme Lucy describes her invention MarinaTex – a translucent and flexible sheet material made of fish offcuts and red algae that could be used for a range of single-use packaging, including food wrapping and other single use applications.
